Course closed


Oughterard Golf Club is an 18 Hole parkland course, which is lined with mature native Irish trees, including Oak, Hazel and Birch. It is an excellent test of golf, with numerous water features, sand bunkers etc. that are strategically placed to protect the par of the course.

The Golf Club is renowned for its hospitality and is an ideal venue to include on a golfing holiday in the West of Ireland.

5943 metres (6500 yards) from the Mens Blue Markers
4964 metres (5429 yards) from the Ladies Red Markers


Par for the course is:
72 Men
71 Ladies

Standard Scratch for the course is:

71 Men White and Blue markers and 70 from the Yellow markers
73 Ladies

Course Record

The course underwent a major upgrade and re-design over the years 1997 to 1999. On the 8th July 2003 RORY McILROY then aged 14 and playing off scratch set a new course record while playing in the Connacht Boys Championships with a 4 under par score of 66. We are all delighted that Rory went on to set many more records in the world of golf.

Subsequent to that playing in the Qualifying round of the Captain’s Prize in 2005 EOIN O’CONNOR playing off 4 handicap had a fantastic 5 under par score of 65 (61 Net) to beat Rory’s record.


On Saturday 4th June Devin Morley had a fantastic score of 45 Stableford Points playing off Scratch. Devin achieving a gross score of 63 which sets a course record for the Par 72 Course.
