Oughterard Golf Club is a charming and challenging course set in tranquil parkland between Lough Corrib to the East and the Connemara Mountains to the North and North West. The Golf Club is renowned for its hospitality and is an ideal venue to include on a golfing holiday in the West of Ireland.

Founded:
Oughterard Golf Club was founded in 1974 as a nine hole course which developed over the years to eighteen holes.

In 1997 major reconstruction works were carried out which included the lengthening of many of the holes, the creating of many features including lakes, ponds and rockeries and the construction of  the new club house facility. This has resulted in transforming Oughterard Golf Club into one of the most challenging golf courses in the region.

Designer:
English Architect, Commander Harris. In 1997 Mr. Paddy Merrigan, re-designed the course and 18 new greens and tee boxes were constructed to USGA specifications.

Description:     
The course is best described as a Parklands course with traditional Limestone walls a main feature throughout the golf course. It comprises of 18 championship holes that are lined with mature native Irish trees, including Oak, Hazel and Birch. It is an excellent test of golf, with numerous water features, sand bunkers etc. that are strategically placed to protect the par of the course.

The course is situated between Lough Corrib to the East and the Connemara Mountains to the North and North West to give a truly spectacular setting.

Office Hours are 9am - 5pm
Clubhouse Hours are 8am to close
Restaurant closes at 9pm

Care of Our Course:     
Soft Spikes: It is recommended that all golfers wear soft spikes.
Pitch Marks: All players must repair their own pitch marks and insist on playing partners doing likewise.
Divots: All divots must be replaced and threaded down.
Bunkers: Please rake bunkers after use and replace rake in bunker on completion.
Litter: Use bins to dispose of litter. Do not throw into lakes or under trees.
Caddy Cars: Certain restrictions may apply from time to time. Watch notice board and observe directives.
Course Closure: Occasionally necessary due to fog or frost. Course Manager and/or Professional is empowered to make a decision which must be obeyed by all players.

Etiquette & Standards:     
The Club Committee is particularly concerned that time honoured Courtesies and Standards of Etiquette are upheld and promoted in Oughterard Golf Club.

Standard of Dress
Neat Dress is essential at all times.

Course
Track suits, runners and singlets are not permitted. Golf shoes must be worn. Tailored shorts are only permitted and must be accompanied by sports socks. Football, beach and cycling shorts are not acceptable. The folding of trousers into socks is not acceptable except when wearing over trousers. The use of mobile phones is not permitted on the course.

Consideration of Other Players
In the interest of all, Players should play without delay. Remember your place on the course is: immediately behined the players in front and not directly in front of the players behined.

Clubhouse
Neat Dress is essential in the clubhouse at all times, especially at functions and prize-giving ceremonies. Golf shoes, baseball caps, runners, men's shorts and track suits are not permitted. Young children must be supervised at all times whilst in the premises. They are not permitted on the balcony, to run up and down the stairs or to use the elevators.
